The limitations of KULI

KULI is like... slaves. Usually used in statements like, "You work like a kuli." Something like that la.

What we can learn from this 4-letter word is that we should not be KULI since we have God. By doing so, we can depend on Him fully despite of the circumstances around us. It's tough, yea, but we gotta try right?

So, what's K.U.L.I?

K : We should not limit God by our Knowledge
U : We should not limit God by our Understanding
L : We should not limit God by our Language
I : We should not limit God by what we can Imagine

Usually we will try to do stuff with our own knowledge and understanding. If something happened and we can't solve it, doesn't mean it is impossible to overcome it. And language will be a common barrier to share the good news. For example, I can't speak Tamil (or Chinese.. or any other languages other than English and BM), but that shouldn't stop me from ministering ppl of other languages. What God is doing among us is something beyond our imagination! Let's all trust in Him. (note : this doesn't mean that we should sit back and relax.)

I learnt this during our 2nd LYPG. Cool stuff, so I got something to blog about.. hee hee

Come for the 3rd LYPG!

Date : 23rd Nov 2008 (Sunday)
Time : 3pm - 5pm
Venue : Wesley Methodist Church conference room

Acts 13 : a b c^3

During our previous LYPG, we had a time of sharing after devotion on Acts 13.

At first, throughout this week, numi n i didn't know which passage to choose for the week's devotion. To cut the long story short, Acts 13 was on our mind, but we didn't really understood why Acts 13.

Aunty Tabitha shared the challenges we need to pursue further with MYPG in the form of a b c^3 and it really gave me a clearer picture now.

A:
set Apart (v. 2) - are we ready to be set apart for God's work?
sent off (v. 3) - being sent off means to exit our comfort zone. To make sacrifices to do the work of God.

B:
Boldness - boldness against the opposition
i. bold to save others (v. 9 - 12)
ii. bold to love the brothers (v. 46)

C:
1. Completing the job (v. 25)
2. Continuing the job (v. 51- 52)
3. Commited to the job

"On the next Sabbath almost the whole city gathered to hear the word of the Lord." (v.44)

It's really comforting and encouraging, despite facing so many setbacks. Because this is for God. So let us not give up!

Local Youth Prayer Gathering (LYPG)

We had our 1st LYPG Kuantan today! *woohoo!

It was great gathering together once again in a time of praise and worship, to pray and fellowship with one another. There were actually other people other than the committee who came! *grins* I thought we didn't spread the news enough. There were around 17 of us. It's just the beginning... yea yea yea.. (sorry, got excited after the prayer meeting)

This really reminded me of COP (circle of prayse) we used to have when we were organising TF 2006.. We used to pray until parents started calling cz it was getting too late.

Anyway, for those unable to attend (Kuantan peeps), here's the update for the next (2nd) prayer meeting!

Date : 16 Nov 2008 (Sunday)
Venue : Grace Charismatic Centre (GCC)
Time : 3pm

The joy of serving

I grew up attending church with my parents. So, eventually, following my dad's footstep I began serving in the worship ministry. I don't know since when I love singing so much, but I do enjoy singing a lot.. so you should know what area I'm serving in hee hee

I've been a backup singer and worship leader in my church since I was 12 and 13 (I think). Form 1 and 2. My voice used to sound kiddie, my bro would comment a lot, because I couldn't blend in with the worship leader and other backup singers' voices. During those days, we would use mic stand. I used to be really shy to adjust the stand cz it always had to be super low. (laugh laugh laugh)

The years of experience didn't help much on stage. I still have butterflies in my stomach before getting on stage. So for the younger ones, don't think I'm pro in this yah.. I'm just like u. hee =D

This morning, I agreed to backup sing. (We don't normally have worship prac cz everyone is too bz with work). But it has been almost 3 weeks having cough and flu, the accumulated phlegm gives me on and off block nose and sometimes take my voice away. So, before I left for church, I did some menthol inhalation to clear my nose. I was asked to start one of the song "Throne of Praise" by Don Moen, so I agreed.

Lo and behold, while I was singing, my nose blocked. Phlegm came back, I didn't have enough air and strength from my stomach. And the song was on a high tune. Imagine how I tried to cover my inabilities.. added some airy effect to the song, (cz airy dun need much power)..but I couldn't inhale enough air so at the end of the phrase my voice went shaky so I add power (cz power use less air). It's complicated la.. And during that time also somehow the Holy Spirit touched me, I was half crying, half controlling my voice, etc etc.

I still enjoy being a backup singer k.. despite the numerous times embarrasing myself.. =D

Pray, plan, pray, pray, pray

After helping in mum's taska's concert, which I shall blog later once I get hold of the pics from numi, we had our 1st planning meeting for mMYPG @ numi's place.

I think we spent more time praying rather than planning, which is good. Started off with a word of prayer, and ending with a time of prayer really just lightened up our burdens, frustrations, disappointments, etc etc. I gotta say, this committee consists of really different people, from different churches but with the same passion.

I just noticed the Youth Prayer Network blog (by the Methodist youths) and reading Lawrence's testimony just made me look back and think of my 1st encounter with God. Just a gentle touch by the Holy Spirit made me cry like a baby.. haha. Anyway, take a look at the blog. =) It's just a click away and I pray that those who are in Kuantan would consider coming to this weekly prayer meeting that we're having here.

Letters

I used to snail mail a lot when I was a young teenager. Writing letters, then post to different people from different places. When I saw my lil sis writing a thank you note for the postman before she sends the brithday card to my grandpa recently, I remember my sis and I would write "thank you mr. postman!" at the back of the letter as well.

You think he smiled when he saw that? Because now I know that being a postman is tough!

I was the inofficial postwoman yesterday together with numi. (hahah).. We went driving around Kuantan to as many churches as we can, posting letters about MYPG (Malaysian Youth Prayer Gathering). The whole thing took us 3 hours (8pm to 11pm) and we were quite shock to see people still working in some of the churches at that hour.

So, we manage to talk to some of the people there, and some, we just left them in the mailbox. We manage to post 16 letters out of 21 letters. Not bad la right? Tonight we shall post 2 more, and the other 3 surrender to the post office. Let the postman do the job. He does it much better..

Right now, I'm emailing, sms-ing, and calling the leaders to inform them that we have posted the letters. It feels so nice to get things done!

Thank God for postmen!

Friday

Last Friday, I went to CF. It's been so long since I last attended CF and I couldnt help but to look back...way back when I was Form 1 with my sis. Alot of people asked us to join CF after school on Fridays but I can't remember why we kept saying no. One Friday, we were suppose to follow Johanan home from school and he told us that he's attending CF first. So, because my sis and I were lazy pigs, we didn't wanna walk home, we attended our 1st CF meeting!

That time, we were the only girls there. So we invited more friends to join..... yada yada.

That's Numi!

Then, later in the evening, around 5pm, numi, chai n i went to Kuantan Port.. The view there was really beautiful. So calm, so quiet... I'll just put the pictures here for you to see. (Pics not taken by me yah.)

Numi

I find this structure cute..

Chai made us climb down the cute structures..

Peaceful right? Except that when we arrived, we were kinda noisy..

After that, we went back to town just in time for dinner at Cherating Steak House. =) (Thanks numi..). That was where my family celebrated my lil sis' birthday and my bro and I performed 2 songs for that girl. Every Friday and Saturday from 9pm until around 11pm, there will be a guy with his guitar performing songs (oldies). It was very entertaining, hearing back the old old country songs and singing along.

BTW, I didn't get to show you picture of the steps in Sg. Lembing (Panorama Hill). Hee hee, sorry, always go off-topic. So here's one!

It's a long way down!
